D Tuning Bluegrass Banjo Workshop

This banjo workshop is designed for 5-string bluegrass banjo players who have their basic playing skills in place and are looking to enhance their skills and repertoire to include several great arrangements in D-tuning. (Reuben – Earl Scruggs; Rockwood Deer Chase – Don Stover; Red-eyed Benny hen – Randy Lucas; etc.) Participants will learn how D-tuning relates to standard G-tuning and will practice transposing chord positions and a song “on the fly.” Participants will receive several transcriptions using tablature (paper copies and electronic) and a cd recording of D-tuning banjo breaks played up-to-speed and slowed down. After the hour of instruction, participants are invited to stay for an additional hour of group practice on the material.
